Developmental editing is about the big picture. Perspective is gained in this level of editing as your story structure, characterization, plot development, narrative voice, pacing, point of view, and other story nuances are put through their paces. Together, we’ll navigate the next stepping-stones in the suggested revision path, and you’ll refine your prose to be consistent, compelling, and engrossing, all while solidifying your individual authorial voice, compelling readers to ride upon the currents of your story world through to the final adventure.

Manuscript comments and tracked changes focused on story structure and development, including theme, plot arcs, character arcs, market viability, and authorial voice.

Detailed editorial letter that steps back from the comments and revisions in the manuscript, offering a bird’s-eye view of the revision strategy including additional resources and suggestions that expand on key writing craft elements.

x4 one-hour consultations: one directly after the final deliverables are received, dedicated to guiding you through the edited manuscript and supporting documents to clarify next steps in the revision process. To be redeemed during the service, or within 60 days after the project’s end. Consultation will be recorded upon request.

This service takes roughly 6-8 weeks to complete. If you decide upon an editing package (see below for details) you will have 90 days to review and complete the suggested revisions before we move on to the next editing service. I dedicate this amount of time to make sure the developmental service is providing abundant value to my author clients.
